Science Night

"5 to 12" RWTH Science Night 2022

“RWTH Science Night” has been taking place since 2003. All around the RWTH, predominantly in the CARL building, the event increased in popularity over the years. The idea behind the Science Night is to present science in an informative, interactive and entertaining way at an unusual time.

With its dynamic and engaging special events comprising interesting lectures, film screenings and musical performances, which are suitable for young and old alike, the evening aims to make science graspable by providing education and fun through lively hands-on experience.

The Press Office is responsible for the creation, as it had experience with target groups, program offerings, and organization due to previous science celebrations. In keeping with the thematic diversity, the compact event supports a dense succession of individual events. The programs around the Science Night also include literature, art, a Science Slam and numerous other cultural events.
The social aspect also plays a big role: A central meeting point is an inviting live band with drinks and food. In order to enable younger parents with smaller children to participate, there is a special observation lesson for kids in the workshops and labs of the different university institutes.

The premiere event in November 2003 was a complete success and resulted in the expansion into the Science Night "5 vor 12“. Since then, about 6000 visitors attend the evening and look foward to the rich program.
