Tsunami research in Spain
Univ. Prof. Dr. Reicherter, head of the teaching and research department Neotectonics and Geohazards and an expert in the field of natural disasters, has made significant findings in his recent research in Spain. These findings indicate that in the near future the possibility of a tsunami in the region of Andalusia cannot be excluded. Currently, a team of scientists is intensively studying the historical remains of the Roman city of Baelo Claudia in order to gain knowledge and formulate possible warnings. The results of their research are of interest because they point to potential challenges: The provinces of Cadiz and Huelva could likely face the most severe impacts in such a scenario.
