As of October 1, 2023, the chairmanship of the examination board (PA) in the Master "Applied Geosciences" (AGW) will change from Prof. Ralf Littke to Prof. Florian Amann. Prof. Back remains in office as vice-chairman. The complete composition of the examination boards can be found here: Examination Committees Examination Cammittees

Prof. Littke held the office of the PA-chairman - with small interruptions e.g. during his time as Dean of the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering Fakulty of Georesources and Materials Engineering - for more than 20 years and is therefore the longest serving PA-chairman. Shortly after his appointment as full professor at RWTH, he took over the examination board for the diploma program "Geology" and actively accompanied the transition from the diploma to the bachelor and master programs in 2005 and 2008, respectively. In terms of content, he was particularly involved in the specialization "Geology, Geochemistry and Deposits", which was renamed "Energy and Mineral Resources" in 2011 in the course of internationalization and was offered entirely in English.

Prof. Amann "inherits" the office of Prof. Littke due to his retirement on October 1, 2023. Florian Amann took over the professorship for engineering and hydrogeoloy at RWTH Aachen University in 2017 and has already been a professorial member of the examination board for the bachelor and master programs "Applied Geosciences" and "Applied Geophysics" since the winter semester 2018/19. In terms of content, he represents the specialization "geoengineering" and has changed the field of engineering geology in the education to English.

The Division of Geosciences and Geography expresses its sincere thanks to Prof. Littke for his decades of commitment to the examination board and wishes Prof. Amann a good start in office. Applications to the examination boards can still be submitted via the relevant departmental student advisor.
