Better understanding permafrost

These days, a research team from RWTH Aachen University is installing two measuring devices in the Glarus Alps to continuously monitor changes in permafrost over several years. Such long-term measurements are still missing to better understand the influence of climate change on permafrost - and also what this means for the risk of natural hazards in the Alps.
