Housing in Aachen
Reserved rooms of the Studierendenwerk
We offer 15 rooms in nine different student residences for the time of the Applied Geophysics students in Aachen. Some of these rooms are single-flats and some of them are rooms in shared flats. The student residences are centrally located, and the rent varies between ca. 220 € and 400 €, while most of the rooms are below 300 € per month. More details about the residences can be found on the website of the Studierendenwerk Aachen.
You will receive an Email during your second semester at ETH Zurich, containing all relevant information about the application for these rooms. Due to a varying number of students, these 15 rooms do not last for all students each year. Please note that we favour international students for the allocation of the 15 reserved rooms.
However, this is no reason to panic, even students who are not allocated a reserved place in a student residence will find an apartment in Aachen. There are two ways to do this:
Room in a Student Dorm
Every student in Germany is entitled to a room in a student residence, but this can be associated with waiting times. We therefore recommend all students to apply for a room at the Studierendenwerk Aachen as early as possible. You can find more information on the page Living in a Student Dorm.
The following link will take you directly to the application for a place in the dormitory and only takes a few minutes.
Private Housing
Of course, there is also the possibility to search for an apartment or a room in a shared flat on your own. We recommend the following websites, which should make your search easier:
