Information about field work
Participation in field events requires timely registration (in the summer semester usually in March) and assignment via RWTHonline. It is possible to register for several field events at the same time by specifying preferences. In this case, registration takes place at the same time as the corresponding examination, especially in the case of the freely selectable field events.
With the assignment to a cross-country course, the payment or, if applicable, a deposit of the participation fee is due directly. According to the examination regulations, withdrawal is only possible up to 7 days after allocation to an off-road event. In case of a non timely withdrawal or a missing timely payment of the participation fee, the grade 5.0 (non-appearance) will be entered for the corresponding examination performance.
Since the costs for field events change depending on the number of participants, it is in the interest of all involved not to generate any remaining places, e.g. due to short-term withdrawals (especially outside the cancellation deadlines). For this reason, according to the examination regulations, a withdrawal without consequences is only possible within one week after notification of the allocation to the corresponding field event. Paid-in participant amounts will not be refunded in order to avoid a redistribution among the other participants in the field event. It is therefore recommended to take out a private travel cancellation insurance, which guarantees a refund of the participant fees in certain cases (e.g. illness, death).
