The preparation for studying in a foreign country can get complicated sometimes. Which steps have to be done in which order and until when? To help international applicants for a university placement with this process, we created a checklist from application to lecture start.

 

Checklist for applicants

  1. Application for a university placement
  2. Accept placement via RWTHonline
  3. Apply for a scholarship
    ► A full scholarship, e. g. by DAAD, may replace a "Sperrkonto" for the visa application!
  4. For Non-EU students: Apply for a student visa / entry visa through the responsible German embassy
    ► Please note that the visa application procedure can take three months or more!
  5. Housing in Aachen
  6. Take out a recognized health insurance
  7. Enrollment via RWTHonline / International Office
  8. Register at the registration office of the residence and apply for a residence permit at the immigration office
  9. Welcome week and start of lectures
