Christmas greetings and review of the year 2022

The year 2022 was an eventful year for the Division of Earth Sciences and Geography. After two years, the GeoTag could once again take place in presence, and excursions to southern Spain, Denmark, Oman and Greece took place again. In addition, the Freshers' Week and almost all teaching events were offered in attendance.
In 2022, the department welcomed four new junior or substitute professors at RWTH Aachen University, Prof. Stanjek retired after 20 years at RWTH and Prof. Buiter was appointed head of the GFZ in Potsdam. Numerous lecturers and students were honoured for their outstanding achievements, including Prof. Janos Urai, Jun.-Prof. Troch and the Geography Student Council.
Contact with alumni also plays an important role in the department: in the alumni stories, alumni talk about their entry into the professional world and their most formative moments at RWTH Aachen University.
