The working group of the chair covers a wide range of topics in physical geography. Besides the classical fields of geomorphology including geomorphodynamics and relief analysis as well as geoecology and palaeopedology, sedimentology and quaternary research are particularly important. These different subareas are considered under the main topic of landscape system change in the Quaternary. Here the different subareas of the landscape system are analysed and put in relation to each other. Based on the landscape forms and the sediments that form them, recent and prehistoric accumulative and erosive processes are derived and used in synthesis to reconstruct the landscape and the factors influencing it.
